Elizabeth Lake Rd to Cass Lake

Date: 5/2/2009

Distance: 6.46mi

Avg Speed: 2.4mph

Time: 3:15hrs

Notes:

Wow the river level is super high.  At the canoe launch on Elizabeth Lk Rd the river had crested and encroached into surrounding area about 25 feet! I went with 1st time kayaker Brandi Holloway and we had a blast.  There where no fallen trees or obstacles to deal with, however there are a few spots that will need to be cut out when the water level drops later this season.

River Side Park To Avon & Livernois

Date: 4/24/2009

Distance: 8.47mi

Avg Speed: 3.6mph

Time: 3:30hrs

Notes:

What a great trip! The weather was perfect, the river was full and moving fast.  We took 2 new CRKC members out for their 1st Clinton River run.  Congratulations Jenna Rickard and Ron Pate!!  This is one of our favorite runs.  only one log jam that must be portaged just before you get to Avon.  I had the pleasure of testing out a new boat, the Liquid Logic Remix 10... this boat is awesome on the river. It is considered a hybrid because it has a white water design and the length of a touring boat.  This boat can turn on a dime, and with the drop skeg it tracks great and helps keep you out of the dead water when rounding a turn. I would not recommend this boat if you plan on doing any open water/lake kayaking but if you like to run the river this is boat is the best I have tried!!
